Atlético Madrid are bracing for a busy summer transfer window, with the club aiming to be one of the main protagonists. The sporting directorate is looking to revamp all lines of the pitch, as several players’ futures are uncertain beyond next season.
One of the most talked-about cases is that of Koke Resurrección, who has yet to renew his contract with the club. The captain was initially willing to continue, but the low-ball offer presented by the rojiblancos does not meet his demands. The player currently has a very significant offer on the table from Saudi Arabia that would triple his current salary, and Atlético are starting to accept that he may leave.
As such, the club is already exploring the market for solutions. While they have advanced signings such as Guido Rodríguez or Pepelu, they are working on other alternatives to complete the squad.
One of the names that Cholo Simeone likes the most is Adrien Rabiot, who ends his contract with Juventus this summer. The Argentine wants to add experience and leadership to the midfield, and the Frenchman would undoubtedly fulfill all the requirements.
In principle, the only problem would be the Frenchman’s high salary, but this would be compensated by the savings of not having to pay a transfer fee. In any case, the player also has offers from both England and Italy, so Andrea Berta would be moving quickly to try to have everything done by next June.
Sources close to the club confirm that talks with his agent have been going on for weeks, and the sporting directorate is optimistic about the outcome of the negotiations.
