Real Madrid have been handed a major boost ahead of their La Liga clash against Girona, with the visitors set to be without three key players.
Coach Míchel Sánchez, as well as players Daley Blind and Yangel Herrera, will all be suspended for the match, which takes place at the Santiago Bernabéu on february 10.
The trio were all sanctioned following Girona’s last match against Real Sociedad, and their appeals against the punishments were unsuccessful.
Míchel will be a huge miss for Girona, with the experienced coach having led the team to an impressive 11th place in La Liga this season.
Blind and Herrera are also important players, and their absence will leave Girona significantly weakened.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, will be looking to take full advantage of Girona’s misfortune.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side is currently top of La Liga, and a win against Girona would open up a four-point gap over second-placed Barcelona.
The match is now firmly in Real Madrid’s favor, and it would be a major surprise if they didn’t come away with all three points.
