Real Madrid has been monitoring the transfer market for years, always on the lookout for top talent. While Kylian Mbappé has been their main target, they have also kept an eye on other players, including Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian striker has been in impressive form for Napoli, scoring 17 goals in 23 appearances this season. However, he is considered to be a level below Mbappé, and with the Frenchman’s arrival imminent, Real Madrid has decided to end their pursuit of Osimhen, according to Defensa Central.
Napoli recently renewed Osimhen’s contract with a €130 million release clause, which would make it easier for him to leave in the summer. However, Real Madrid no longer sees him as a viable option.
PSG, on the other hand, could be interested in signing Osimhen as a replacement for Mbappé. The French club is looking for a player with similar characteristics to Mbappé, and Osimhen fits the bill.
Real Madrid’s attack is well-stocked
With the arrival of Mbappé, Real Madrid’s attack will be well-stocked. The club already has Endrick, Vinicius, Rodrygo, Brahim, Joselu, and Güler in its ranks. As a result, some of these players may be loaned out next season.
While Osimhen is a talented player, Real Madrid believes that Napoli’s asking price is too high.
