Rayo Vallecano rejects €4 million bid for Randy Nteka

Rayo Vallecano blocked a last-minute move for Randy Nteka at the end of the winter transfer window. Elche CF had offered €4 million for the French striker to return to the Franjiverdes, but the deal fell through.

Nteka was one of Elche’s targets to strengthen their attack. The La Liga SmartBank club offered up to €4 million to sign the player from the Madrid-based club. Rayo Vallecano demanded €6 million and even asked for up to €8 million in the final hours of the market, as there were four other offers from La Liga clubs. Elche considered this amount to be too high and did not accept the demands of Rayo Vallecano president Raúl Martín Presa.

The desire to sign the player was evident, but Elche were not willing to pay such a high amount for Nteka for the rest of the season. The Franjiverdes waited until the last minute to see if the Madrid club would reduce the price, but the negotiations did not reach their goal.

Nteka will play with Rayo Vallecano until the end of the season and then the Madrid club will decide whether to sell him in the summer market. The player’s value is €1.8 million, according to Transfermarkt.
