Lionel Messi’s participation in Inter Miami’s upcoming match against Vissel Kobe is in doubt. The Argentine superstar missed his team’s 4-1 friendly win against a Hong Kong All-Star team on Sunday due to an adductor injury.
Messi’s absence in Hong Kong drew the ire of fans and the local government. The 35-year-old had been expected to play a major role in Inter Miami’s Asian tour, which also includes a match against Vissel Kobe in Japan on Wednesday.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Messi said he was unsure if he would be able to play against Vissel Kobe. “I don’t know if I will be able to play,” he said. “But I feel much better and I hope to be able to play. Today (Tuesday) in the afternoon, we will train, and I will try. My feelings are better.”
Messi’s injury woes have been a source of frustration for Inter Miami fans. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has been injured several times since joining the club in 2023, and he has yet to make a significant impact on the team.
It remains to be seen if Messi will be able to play against Vissel Kobe. If he does miss the match, it will be a major blow for Inter Miami and their hopes of winning the Asian tour.
