Kepa Arrizabalaga will not be signed by Real Madrid when his loan expires this summer. The Spanish goalkeeper will therefore have to return to Chelsea, as he still has a contract with the Premier League club, which once paid 80 million euros for the then Athletic Club goalkeeper, until June 2025.
After Thibaut Courtois recovers from his anterior cruciate ligament injury that has kept him sidelined since the start of the season, Kepa will no longer be considered by Real Madrid, according to Todofichajes. The Madrid club will not keep the goalkeeper after Andrey Lunin has taken over as first-choice and so the Ukrainian will be the goalkeeper who will accompany Courtois when the Belgian returns.
It is still unknown what role Kepa will play on his return to London. Chelsea do not seem to be counting on Kepa either, as they signed Robert Sánchez and Djordje Petrovic to long-term deals last summer.
