Lyon 1-0 Marseille: Player Ratings

Man of the Match: Alexandre Lacazette (7.5)

Lacazette once again played the role of the providential man with a goal full of audacity and perseverance. He managed to create danger with each of his interventions and disrupted Marseille’s plans.

Lyon (3-5-2)

Anthony Lopes (6.5)

Always serene in the air, he recovered all the crosses and corners (not necessarily inspired). He exudes real serenity in his interventions.

Jason O’Brien (5)

Quite discreet in the game, he was however intractable in the marking and assured defensively.

Duje Caleta-Car (5.5)

Although he could have participated a little more in the recovery, where he was content to relay the ball in short play, he was very strong in the axis, never really worried by the very sterile Marseille attack.

Clinton Mata (5.5)

He sometimes lacked a bit of precision, giving 20% of his balls to the opponent, while having an interesting role to bring numerical superiority in midfield in the attacking phase.

Nicolas Tagliafico (4)

After a first period where he was very little solicited but also showed himself little available by touching only 17 balls, he was replaced by Corentin Tolisso (6), whose contribution in the middle was quite precious with a lot of presence near the ball and a real defensive work.

Nemanja Matic (7)

The new Lyon player made a full match with an incredible work rate throughout the game, taking many balls out of midfield and forward and a very convincing impact in the duel.

Maxence Caqueret (6.5)

In an often thankless role of play orientation and relay, he was not necessarily seen much but did a real big shadow work to participate in the offensive creation.

Amin Sarr (7.5)

The Lyon recruit was more than convincing tonight, in constant movement to destabilize the Marseille defenders, he often brought danger in front of the Marseille goals.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (6)

He is very interesting, especially by his ability to break away with strength and speed far from his goals, which allows to bring verticality to the Lyon game on his side.

Tetê (4.5)

Much less prominent than the other offensive recruit Nuamah, he was nevertheless stirring but without being able to find a fault in the defensive sector of OM.

Alexandre Lacazette (7.5)

See above.

OM (4-3-3)

Pau Lopez (4)

It must be frustrating for his defenders to know that they cannot count on a decisive wall behind them! He never seems capable of really saving his team, and he is partly to blame for the goal, where his poorly calculated first dive took him out of the action too quickly.

Ismael Boubacar Kamara (4)

The new Marseille recruit was a bit lost on the pitch tonight. It will take time to judge him, but it was clearly not convincing tonight, with many lost duels and a non-existent offensive contribution.

Chancel Mbemba (5)

Always very available to defend in all circumstances, he sometimes lacked accuracy in his choices tonight.

Valentin Rongier (6)

Impactful, recovering and clearing several balls cleanly, the young full-back had a very positive performance tonight. Replaced by an unrecognizable Konrad de la Fuente, who missed everything and risks missing the Euro as well given his level of play in recent months.

Leonardo Balerdi (5.5)

Very precious defensively where he often had the saving gesture, he then had some waste with the ball at his feet.

Amine Harit (5)

Excellent from the start with a shot on the bar from the kickoff, he then quickly dropped a notch and never really showed himself to be dangerous again, even wasting a big chance with a too-flat shot in the second half.

Azzedine Ounahi (4.5)

As since the start of the season, he lacked percussion, and if he was precise and clean in his play, he still hasn’t managed to give the team a boost.

Moussa Sissoko (4)

A lot of loss of balls and duels, he seemed to miss his match tonight, too easily mastered by the OL midfielders.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (3)

Nothing at all tonight, as too often this season from him. On the few balls he had to exploit, he showed himself to be clumsy, one more no-match for the star striker tonight.

Iliman Ndiaye (3)

We hardly saw him, he was erased all game and did not weigh in on the Lyon area.

Luis Henrique (5)

Some inaccuracies and a little haste in certain choices, but he was still the one who shook the opposing defense the most tonight, if we can say so, with a few interesting incursions on the side.
