Barcelona have been dealt a blow in their search for a new right winger, with Leroy Sane rejecting the chance to move to the Camp Nou.
The German international, 28, had been identified as a potential target by the Catalan giants, who are looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
However, Sane has informed Barcelona that he is not interested in joining the club, according to Sport.
The reasons for Sane’s decision are unclear, but it is understood that he is happy at Bayern Munich and is not looking to leave the club at this stage of his career.
Sane has been in impressive form for Bayern this season, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists in 29 appearances in all competitions.
His performances have helped Bayern to the top of the Bundesliga table and into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Sane’s rejection of Barcelona’s offer will come as a blow to Xavi Hernandez, who is keen to add more firepower to his squad.
The Barcelona boss has already seen a number of his attacking targets move elsewhere this summer, with Raphinha joining Leeds United and Ferran Torres signing for Manchester City.
Xavi will now need to turn his attention to other targets, with Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati among the players who have been linked with a move to the Camp Nou.
