It’s official! As expected, Portuguese striker Vitinha (23) has joined Genoa on loan from Marseille until the end of the season. The option to buy him permanently for €25 million is not automatic.
The young Portuguese, who arrived at Marseille in 2022 from FC Porto, has struggled to break into the starting lineup in Marseille. He has only played 18 Ligue 1 matches this season, scoring three goals.
At Genoa, Vitinha will have the opportunity to get more playing time and reignite his career. Genoa, who are fighting to avoid relegation in Serie A, are looking for offensive reinforcements.
A deal that fits into OM’s strategy
This loan of Vitinha fits into OM’s strategy of rejuvenating their squad and making room for young players. The Marseille club also signed English striker Eddie Nketiah during the winter transfer window.
As part of this deal, OM also negotiated the permanent sale of midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi to Genoa for €7 million.
