German club adds French midfielder from Olympique Lyon.
Werder Bremen made a late splash in the winter transfer window, announcing the signing of French midfielder Skelly Alvero from Olympique Lyon on Wednesday evening.
The 21-year-old joins Werder on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to buy. He arrives in the north of Germany to provide some much-needed strength and experience in midfield.
Alvero is a powerful and athletic player who stands at 6’7″. He can play both defense and attack, and has made eight appearances for Lyon this season, scoring one goal.
“He’s a player who brings us a lot of things,” said Clemens Fritz, Werder’s sporting director. “He’s physically strong, has a good header of the ball, and can also create chances. He’ll add competition and depth to our squad.”
Werder Bremen, who are currently 11th in the Bundesliga, are hoping that Alvero can help the club secure their top-flight status.
Skelly #Alvero kann es kaum erwarten, beim SVW mitzumischen. 🤗
