Portuguese midfielder Vitinha is set to join Genoa on loan from Olympique Marseille, with an option to buy for €25 million.
The deal is expected to be completed on Wednesday, with Vitinha arriving in Genoa today to undergo a medical examination, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 23-year-old Vitinha joined Marseille from Braga last summer for €32 million, but he has struggled to make an impact at the French club. He has made just 14 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal.
Genoa are looking to bolster their midfield after a disappointing start to the season. The club is currently in 19th place in Serie A, just one point above the relegation zone.
The deal is also a good financial move for Marseille. The club will receive €7 million from Genoa as part of the deal, which will help to offset the cost of Vitinha’s signing last summer.
