Jules Koundé, the Barcelona defender, was robbed at his home during last night’s match against Villarreal.
Koundé, who started in the 3-5 defeat that led to Xavi’s announcement that he would leave the club at the end of the season, returned home to find that his home had been ransacked. The robbery took place at around 10:30 PM in Sitges, in the Garraf region of Catalonia, where the French international lives.
According to RAC1, the robbery was a “violent theft,” and police are still waiting to receive a report of what was stolen. It is the second time that Koundé has been robbed in recent months. In April, his home was also burglarized during a Barcelona match against Real Betis.
Koundé is said to be shaken by the incident. It is a reminder of the dangers that celebrities and athletes face when they live in high-profile areas.
