Lazio eyes Bernardeschi return to Serie A

Lazio Rome is looking to bring back an Italian international to Serie A before the winter transfer window closes. The Rome-based club has reportedly set its sights on Federico Bernardeschi, who is currently playing in MLS with Toronto FC.

The 29-year-old winger, who won the 2021 Euros with Italy, is under contract with Toronto until 2026. He is valued at €8 million.

According to reports from TMW, Lazio is ready to make an offer for Bernardeschi. The player, who is said to be open to a return to Europe, could join Serie A as early as this winter.

Could Bernardeschi be a winning return?

Bernardeschi has had a successful career in Italy, notably with Juventus, where he won four Serie A titles. He has also featured in the Champions League on multiple occasions.

His arrival at Lazio would be a major boost for Maurizio Sarri’s side. Bernardeschi would bring his technical skills, dribbling, and speed to an attacking unit that can sometimes be lacking in inspiration.

If he can recapture his best form, Bernardeschi could be a key player for Lazio in their quest for European qualification.
