Nuno Tavares set to return to Marseille

After a stellar loan spell in France last season, Marseille are eager to sign the defender to a permanent deal, according to RMC Sport. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was initially reluctant to let the player go, but he is now open to a sale.

With a net spend of £167 million so far this season, selling an unwanted player like Tavares would be a big help for the Gunners and could well help them fund a much-needed move for a striker. However, Nottingham Forest are blocking the transfer.

Tavares joined Forest on loan for the 2023/24 season, and the Premier League side have an option to buy the left-back for £12 million.
