Ronaldo’s availability for Inter Miami match still uncertain.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury has caused a major headache for Al-Nassr, with the Portuguese superstar’s absence from the club’s planned tour of China leading to a fan frenzy in Beijing.
Hundreds of fans, some of whom had traveled from across China to see Ronaldo, gathered in front of the team’s hotel on Monday, demanding to know why the tour had been canceled. Police were called to the scene to disperse the crowd, which at times turned violent.
In a statement, Al-Nassr said it had “taken the difficult decision” to cancel the tour due to Ronaldo’s injury. The club said it was “committed” to returning to China in the future and organizing a new friendly match.
The incident has highlighted the immense popularity of Ronaldo in China. The former Real Madrid and Juventus star is one of the most famous athletes in the world, and his arrival in China would have been a major event.
The focus now turns to Al-Nassr’s upcoming friendly match against Inter Miami on February 1st in Riyadh. The match will be the first time Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have faced each other since leaving Europe.
However, Ronaldo’s participation in the match is still uncertain. The club has said that it will make a decision on his availability closer to the date of the match.
