Match Preview Real Madrid vs Almeria : Real Madrid ready to bounce back from Cup disappointment

Real Madrid will be looking to bounce back from their Copa del Rey defeat to Atletico Madrid when they host bottom side Almeria in La Liga on Sunday.

The Spanish giants started the year in fine form, winning the Supercopa de Espana against Barcelona before losing 4-2 in extra time to Atletico in the Copa del Rey.

In La Liga, Real Madrid are second in the table, one point behind leaders Girona. They have won their last eight home matches against Almeria and have never lost to the Andalusian side at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Los Blancos” have scored an average of 2.44 goals per home league game this season, so fans will be expecting a high-scoring encounter.

Almeria are still looking for their first league win of the season, but they did manage to hold Girona to a goalless draw in their last match.

Sergio Arribas, a Real Madrid academy graduate, was the man of the match for Almeria and he will be hoping to continue his good form against his former club.

Almeria manager Gaizka Garitano is looking to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window, with Jonathan Vieira among the players he is targeting.

The Rojiblancos have lost each of their last five away league matches by a single goal, so they will be hoping to put up a good fight against Real Madrid, despite their poor record against the Spanish giants.
