Cristiano Ronaldo’s comments about the Ligue 1 did not sit well with the French league.
The Portuguese superstar said that the Saudi Professional League is now better than Ligue 1, a claim that Ligue 1 was quick to refute.
On Saturday, the Ligue 1’s Spanish Twitter account posted a quote from Lionel Messi, who is considered by many to be the greatest player of all time.
“The Ligue 1 is a more physical league than La Liga,” Messi said in an interview with France Football. “The teams are more robust and leave less space. The matches are tough.”
The Ligue 1’s tweet was a clear dig at Ronaldo, who has been criticized for his performances in the Saudi league.
It’s unclear how Ronaldo will respond to the Ligue 1’s tweet, but it’s sure to add fuel to the fire of the ongoing debate between Ronaldo and Messi fans.
