Valentin Rosier arrives at OGC Nice (official)

OGC Nice is finally making moves in the winter transfer window. The club has been hit hard by the Africa Cup of Nations, with Jérémie Boga (Ivory Coast), Terem Moffi (Nigeria), Hicham Boudaoui, and Youcef Atal (Algeria) all leaving for international duty.

The Aiglons have officially announced the arrival of their second signing of January, following Mohamed Ali Cho’s move to Real Sociedad, to help offset the expected departure of Atal. Atal is no longer in good standing with Nice after being convicted of “inciting hatred on the basis of religion,” a decision he has appealed.

To replace Atal in Francesco Farioli’s squad, the lucky winner is right-back Valentin Rosier (27), who arrives on loan with an option to buy from Besiktas. “I’m happy to be back in France at an ambitious club like OGC Nice,” Rosier said in a statement from the club. “Now I can’t wait to get to work in my new colors. I followed the first half of the season, and there are great things to be done together. I’m very motivated and I hope to help the Gym achieve its goals.”

The native of Montauban is a welcome addition to a Nice side that is currently in second place in Ligue 1, just one point behind Paris Saint-Germain.
