Hertha signs Aymen Barkok from Mainz on loan (official)

Hertha BSC has officially signed Aymen Barkok from Mainz 05 on loan until the end of the season. The 25-year-old Moroccan midfielder is expected to give Hertha a boost in midfield as they look to return to the Bundesliga.

Barkok has made over 100 Bundesliga appearances for Mainz, Frankfurt, and Düsseldorf. He is a versatile player who can play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, or winger. He is known for his passing, dribbling, and creativity.

“Aymen is an experienced Bundesliga player who has also played internationally,” said Hertha sporting director Benjamin Weber. “He is flexible in central midfield and can help us immediately. With his skills, he will boost our game.”

Barkok is excited to join Hertha. “I am happy to be here and I am looking forward to playing for a great club that belongs in the Bundesliga,” he said. “I want to help the team achieve its goals and be as successful as possible.”

Hertha is currently seventh in the Bundesliga 2 table, six points behind third-placed Fortuna Düsseldorf. They will face Düsseldorf in the first game of the second half of the season on Sunday.
