Fabrizio Romano drops major Roma bomb: De Rossi in talks to replace Mourinho

Fabrizio Romano, the world-renowned transfer guru, has dropped a major bombshell on the future of AS Roma.

In a tweet posted on his official account on Tuesday, Romano revealed that the Giallorossi have already contacted former player Daniele de Rossi about the possibility of becoming the club’s next manager.

“AS Roma have already opened talks with Daniele de Rossi about becoming the team’s head coach,” Romano tweeted. “De Rossi, who has always dreamed of returning to the club, is very interested in this possibility.

“A final decision is expected in the coming days.”

Mourinho was sacked by Roma on Tuesday after a poor run of results. The club has won just one of its last six Serie A matches and is currently in ninth place in the table.

De Rossi, who retired from playing in 2020, has been working as an assistant coach at Boca Juniors since last year. He has a long history with Roma, having spent 18 years at the club as a player.

He would be a popular choice with Roma fans, who have long been calling for his return to the club.

Mourinho is now a free agent after his contract with Roma was terminated. He has been linked with a number of clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, he is also said to be considering taking a break from coaching.
