Paris Saint-Germain extended their unbeaten streak to 11 games and tightened their grip on the Ligue 1 title with a hard-fought 2-0 win over a feisty RC Lens at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
Lens came out roaring, earning a penalty six minutes in. But Frankowski’s spot-kick went straight at Donnarumma, setting the tone for a frustrating night for the hosts. Donnarumma kept Lens at bay, denying Wahi and Danso as PSG struggled to get a foothold.
Just when Lens seemed in control, PSG struck. Youngster Barcola showed ice-cool composure, slotting home Mbappé’s brilliant through ball to silence the Lens faithful. Things went from bad to worse for Lens as Gradit got sent off for bringing down Barcola in the box.
Despite being a man down, Lens kept creating chances. El Aynaoui and Wahi tested Donnarumma, while PSG relied on flashes of brilliance from Mbappé and Dembélé. Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz had clear-cut chances but couldn’t capitalize, before Mbappé finally put the game to bed with a clinical finish late on.
It wasn’t PSG’s prettiest win, but the three points keep them eight points clear at the top. Lens, despite showing plenty of fight, see their four-game home winning streak snapped and remain three points away from the European places.
