Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has not ruled out signing a new striker to replace Victor Boniface, who is out for several weeks with a muscle injury.
“We’re not under pressure to bring in a new player, but we’re always open to it,” Alonso said on Friday. “If there’s a good option, we’ll look at it. It has to make sense.”
Boniface, who has scored four goals in 13 appearances for Leverkusen this season, is expected to be out until April. In the meantime, Patrik Schick will be tasked with leading the line. Schick himself returned from a long-term injury at the end of last year.
