PSG: Gabriel Moscardo transfer on hold?

The transfer of Gabriel Moscardo, a 18-year-old Brazilian midfielder, to Paris Saint-Germain is on hold. The Parisian club wants the player to undergo surgery on his left foot in Doha before finalizing the transfer, which is worth €20 million (excluding bonuses).

This delay has annoyed Augusto Melo, the new president of the Brazilian club. “Either PSG pays now, or he goes back to Corinthians,” he said on Tuesday. “The negotiations were carried out by the previous management, but things are different now. There is no need to wait for the operation. If they don’t pay now, he goes back.”

The player’s entourage remains confident. According to the French newspaper L’Équipe, they believe that PSG will eventually agree to the Corinthians’ demands. The Parisian club, for its part, is not expected to make a decision on the transfer of Moscardo until the end of January.

Possible scenarios

If PSG accepts the Corinthians’ terms, Moscardo could join the capital club as early as this winter. He would then become the third Brazilian in the Paris squad, after Lucas Beraldo and Neymar.

If PSG refuses to pay immediately, Moscardo could return to Corinthians. He could then be loaned to PSG in the summer of 2023, or be sold to another club.

A file to follow

The transfer of Moscardo is a file to follow closely. It could have significant implications for PSG, which is looking to strengthen its midfield.
