Lukas Klostermann signs long-term extension with Leipzig

Lukas Klostermann is staying with Bundesliga club RB Leipzig for the long haul. The 27-year-old defender has signed a new four-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2028.

Klostermann joined Leipzig from VfL Bochum in 2014 and helped the club win promotion to the Bundesliga two years later. He has since gone on to win two DFB-Pokal titles with Leipzig.

“Of course, there were some thoughts about whether something new might be in the cards after such a long time in Leipzig,” Klostermann said. “So, I took some time to think about my next step with my wife and family. And that step is now very clearly RB Leipzig.”

Klostermann has made 278 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions, scoring 14 goals. He is a versatile defender who can play at right-back, left-back, or center-back.
