Olympique de Marseille strengthens midfield by signing Jean Onana

Gennaro Gattuso is beginning to find his feet at the helm of one of the most prestigious clubs in Ligue 1, where Paris Saint-Germain remains the team to beat. Olympique de Marseille, which is looking to regain its competitive edge in France and Europe, has taken another step in this direction by signing Jean Onana (24 years old).

As the Marseille club confirmed on its social media channels, it has obtained the loan with an option to buy a midfielder who arrives from Beşiktaş. While he had not become an undisputed starter in Turkey, the Cameroonian has opted for the temptation of an OM that is thus strengthening its midfield.

Onana is a versatile midfielder who can play both as a playmaking midfielder and as a defensive midfielder. He has good technique, good vision of the game, and good recovery ability. He is also capable of projecting himself forward and creating scoring opportunities.

His arrival is good news for OM, which needed to strengthen its midfield to be able to compete with PSG. Onana will bring quality and depth to a sector that was previously composed of Boubacar Kamara, Matteo Guendouzi, and Konrad de la Fuente.

Gattuso now has a more competitive squad for the second half of the season. He will be keen to lead OM to the Ligue 1 title and qualify for the Champions League.
