Inter Milan Steal the Win with Late Drama from Frattesi

The Giuseppe Meazza witnessed a rollercoaster of emotions as Inter Milan secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Hellas Verona, extending their unbeaten Serie A run to 13 games. Despite having a man sent off and seeing a late penalty saved, the Nerazzurri snatched the win thanks to a dramatic injury-time strike from Davide Frattesi.

Verona, struggling with just one win all season, looked toothless in attack initially, failing to register a single shot on target. However, just as Inter seemed comfortably ahead with Lautaro Martínez’s early goal, Milan Đurić nearly equalized with a header that Yann Sommer brilliantly denied on the line.

The second half started brightly for Inter, but an offside call for Martínez’s potential second goal temporarily deflated the home crowd. Yet, just as Verona threatened to snatch a point, substitute Thomas Henry stunned the Meazza with an equalizer in the 75th minute.

Undeterred, Inter roared back in the dying minutes. Frattesi pounced on a rebound to put Inter back in front, while Verona’s Darko Lazović saw red for a reckless tackle. The drama wasn’t over though, as Verona earned a late penalty. However, Henry’s spot-kick crashed against the post, ensuring Inter held on for a dramatic three points.

This tense victory sends Inter five points clear of their Derby d’Italia rivals Juventus in the Serie A table. For Verona, the missed penalty and late red card will be bitter pills to swallow, especially as they remain rooted to the bottom of the league.
