Hugo Ekitike to Lyon? OL Makes New Offer to PSG

Olympique Lyonnais is looking to strengthen its attack in the summer transfer window. And once again, the name of Hugo Ekitike is back in the headlines at OL just days before the opening of the transfer market.

Even though his salary, estimated at €7.2 million gross per year, is shocking, especially since he has not played this season, except for eight short minutes against Lorient on the first day of Ligue 1, Ekitike is a highly sought-after striker. In August last year, OL was one of many clubs that contacted Paris Saint-Germain to find out the terms of a loan for the former Reims man, but the latter refused all offers and the matter was quickly settled. But according to L’Equipe and Le Progrès, John Textor has not definitively crossed Ekitike’s name off his list. Because at 21, the PSG player has probably not lost any of the talent that led to his transfer from Reims for €30 million.

Ekitike Still on OL’s Radar

As the winter transfer window opens its doors on Monday, Loïc Tanzi claims that Hugo Ekitike is now open to offers, the young striker being on the verge of burnout, tired of not playing at all since the start of the season. And that is why Olympique Lyonnais has submitted an offer of a loan without an option to buy to Luis Campos to see if Ekitike’s arrival was possible.

In principle, PSG is now willing to transfer its player permanently, or to loan him, but in the form of a paid loan with an option to buy, while also offloading a large part of his salary. On the side of Le Progrès, Jean-François Gomez confirms that OL is tempted by Hugo Ekitike, but the journalist close to the Rhone club admits that this operation will not be easy to complete. Even though John Textor has entrusted an envelope of €50 million to his recruitment department, Lyon is still being very cautious.
