While the future of the Zidanes has often been linked to Real Madrid, a major decision is looming for one of Zinedine’s sons.
As Spanish daily Marca reports, a surprise is brewing at La Fábrica (Real Madrid’s youth academy) as Elyaz Zidane, the fourth son of Zizou, is seriously considering leaving Real Madrid. At 18 years old, the versatile defender, who can play as a center back or left back, is not in Arbeloa’s plans for the Juvenil A team.
Is Elyaz Zidane leaving Real Madrid?
With only two starts in 21 games, doubts are starting to creep in for the young player. The lack of playing time is threatening his place in the French U19 national team, with the Elite Round in March and the U19 Euros on the horizon. While the French coach has confidence in Elyaz, his lack of regular playing time could jeopardize his participation.
This season, Elyaz has struggled to adapt to Arbeloa’s style at Real Madrid, who has preferred to bet on two young center backs, Joan Martínez and Diego Aguado. In this scenario, Theo Zidane would become the last representative of the Zidane dynasty at the Merengue club.
