Monaco sets price for Guillermo Maripán!

Guillermo Maripán, a key player for AS Monaco since his arrival from Alavés in 2019, has been plagued by injuries, never finishing a season with more than 28 appearances. Less injured this season, the 29-year-old Chilean international (47 caps) does not represent the future for the management of the current third-placed club in Ligue 1, which has already begun to reshape its defense since last summer and could do so again this winter with the possible arrival of Lilian Brassier.

As a result, the club from the Principality would not be against Maripán’s departure, especially as Stade Rennais has clearly expressed its interest in the experienced Chilean defender, who for his part has no desire to leave the Rock. The Breton club, which sees Maripán as a defender capable of stabilizing its very young backline, has contacted Monaco to learn about the terms of the operation.

According to FootMercato, ASM has set a price of 10 million euros for its solid defender (6’4″, 176 lbs), who is under contract until June 2025. It remains to be seen whether Stade Rennais will be receptive to this amount.

The deal is still in its early stages, but it is clear that both clubs are interested in a transfer. Rennes is looking to add experience and leadership to its defense, while Monaco is looking to recoup some of the money it spent on the player three years ago. It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can reach an agreement in the coming weeks.
