Lille turns to Chuba Akpom after being rebuffed by Almeria

Lille is looking to add an attacker to its squad in the January transfer window, and the club has turned to Chuba Akpom of Ajax Amsterdam, according to Maxifoot.

Lille had been in talks with Almeria for Largie Ramazani, but the Spanish club’s asking price was too high for the French club. Lille is now looking to sign Akpom on loan.

The 28-year-old Akpom has scored nine goals in 19 appearances for Ajax this season. He is a versatile attacker who can play as a striker or winger.

Akpom is not a stranger to France. He was linked with RC Lens last summer as a replacement for Loïs Openda, who joined RB Leipzig. The London native ultimately joined Ajax in a €12 million transfer.

Lille is in need of attacking reinforcements after losing Jonathan David to Real Madrid in the summer. The Canadian international scored 33 goals in all competitions last season.

Akpom would be a good addition to Lille’s squad. He is a proven goalscorer who can provide depth and competition for the club’s other strikers.
