Match Preview: Empoli faces daunting task of ending losing streak against Lazio

Empoli will be looking to end a four-match winless streak when they host Lazio in Serie A on Saturday.

The Tuscan side are currently in the relegation zone, just one point above Salernitana. They have won just one of their last six matches, and their home form has been particularly poor, with just one win in their last six at the Carlo Castellani.

Empoli’s attack has also been a major concern this season. They have scored just ten goals in 17 games, the fewest of any team in the league.

Lazio, meanwhile, are 11th in the table and have won just two of their last six matches. They have also struggled away from home, with just two wins in their last eight away games.

However, Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri has a good record against Empoli, having never been beaten in his nine meetings with the Tuscan side.

The key for both teams will be to start well. Empoli have been unable to recover from losing positions this season, while Lazio have failed to win any of their seven games in which they have fallen behind.

Players to watch:

Matteo Cancellieri (Empoli): The former Lazio youth player will be looking to make an impact against his former club. He has one goal and two assists in 17 appearances this season.

Mattia Zaccagni (Lazio): The Lazio winger has been in good form recently, scoring the team’s last goal. He has not lost in his last seven appearances in which he has scored.

Series in progress: A goal has been scored in the 92nd minute or later in three of the last three meetings between the two teams.
