The January transfer window is fast approaching, when Kylian Mbappé will be able to sign with a new club ahead of the 2024/2025 season. As everyone knows, Real Madrid is the favorite to sign him, and Florentino Pérez still dreams of bringing him to the Spanish capital.
Nicolas Sarkozy, a lifelong PSG supporter, was interviewed about Mbappé on the Spanish television show Espejo Público. He took the opportunity to gloat a bit about Real Madrid’s repeated failures to sign the French striker.
“I know Kylian, I appreciate him, but I’m not his spokesperson,” Sarkozy said. “I also like Real Madrid, I often go to their games, and I know Florentino Pérez well, whom I admire. But Mbappé stayed in Paris. Why? It doesn’t matter. The fact is that he stayed! I’m happy that he stayed, and I think Real Madrid is the best team in the world.”
Sarkozy’s comments were a bit provocative towards Real Madrid. It remains to be seen if he will be able to make the same statement in a few months, if Mbappé ultimately decides to join the Spanish club.
