Benzema’s Controversial Dream Team: No Kroos, No Modric, and a Dig at Cristiano

Karim Benzema has always been a mysterious and reserved individual when it comes to his thoughts, which, at times, can be controversial.

The French legend has always been highly praised for his on-field contributions, though off the field, he hasn’t always made the best decisions.

His departure from Real Madrid last summer was, for many, a bit traumatic and unexpected, especially since he had ruled it out himself.

Additionally, Benzema didn’t have a farewell befitting his stature, especially because he chose it that way, despite Florentino Pérez’s intention to bid him a grand farewell at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

For this reason, the latest words from the historic Real Madrid ‘Number 9′ don’t surprise, though they continue to frustrate Madrid fans.

Karim Benzema, questioned by the official media of Al-Ittihad Jeddah Club, named his dream team, excluding many stars, including some who were his former teammates.

“Neuer; Dani Alves, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo; Makelele, Pogba; Zidane, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, and Benzema” was the chosen ’11’ by the Saudi footballer.

This is surprising because he left out Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Thibaut Courtois, Casemiro, Cristiano Ronaldo, or Iker Casillas—players with whom he shared the locker room and contributed to growing his legend at Real Madrid. This hasn’t been well-received by the Madrid entity, even though everyone is familiar with Benzema.
