Thilo Kehrer Could Join Eintracht Frankfurt

According to information from the Sport Bild newspaper, Eintracht Frankfurt is in negotiations for the loan of former Paris Saint-Germain player Thilo Kehrer (27 years old), who is struggling for playing time with West Ham.

The winter transfer window promises to be anything but calm for Eintracht Frankfurt. Currently seventh in the Bundesliga, recently eliminated from the Pokal by the modest club Sarrebruck, and defeated in its last four outings, the German club is going through a challenging period. To try to turn the tide in the coming weeks, the Hessian entity aims to strengthen its squad. According to Sport Bild, the Eagles have already identified one of their future reinforcements. Currently under contract with West Ham until 2026, Thilo Kehrer (27 years old) is of great interest to the Frankfurt management.

While the likelihood of him joining Eintracht on a permanent transfer seems low, the signing of the defender on a loan basis appears much more plausible.

Kehrer is familiar with the Bundesliga

This move is especially relevant as the former Paris Saint-Germain player grapples with significantly reduced playing time. With only 18 minutes played after 15 Premier League matches, Thilo Kehrer has participated in just one percent of West Ham’s league games. A less than flattering record for the German, although he has been involved in 4 out of 5 of the Hammers’ Europa League matches.

Returning to a league he knows well from his time with Schalke between 2014 and 2017 (45 matches, 4 goals, 4 assists) could provide Kehrer with the opportunity to rejuvenate his career by regaining substantial playing time. Additionally, his adaptability would undoubtedly be highly valued by Eintracht Frankfurt’s coach, Dino Toppmöller, who is accustomed to frequent tactical changes. The remaining question is whether the London club’s management is open to the player’s departure and if their German counterparts can meet their demands.
