Official: Julien Stéphan Replaces Bruno Génésio as Head Coach at Stade Rennais

Stade Rennais officially announced on Sunday the departure of Bruno Génésio from his position as head coach. The club also revealed that Julien Stéphan would be his replacement.

The official statement from Stade Rennais reads, “Bruno Génésio is stepping down from his role as the general coach of Stade Rennais F.C. and will be replaced by Julien Stéphan.”

Described as a mutual decision between Bruno Génésio and the club, this move stems from various factors, including personal reasons. Joining the club on March 4, 2021, Génésio made significant contributions during his tenure. Under his guidance, Stade Rennais consistently qualified for European competitions each season. In recognition of his achievements, Génésio was honored with the title of Best Ligue 1 Coach in 2022. The club expressed gratitude for his time at the helm, acknowledged his accomplishments, and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Stéphan will be introduced tomorrow

To discuss the managerial transition and provide more details, the club’s management has scheduled a press conference on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 2:00 PM. During this conference, Julien Stéphan, the new head coach, will be introduced to the media.

Stéphan, who previously served as the head coach of Stade Rennais from 2018 to 2021, returns to take charge of the first team. His past experience with the club, coupled with his coaching acumen, makes him a familiar and potentially influential figure in Stade Rennais’ current journey.
