Piotr Zielinski has confirmed that “talks are ongoing” with Napoli over a new contract and has opened up on the interest from Saudi Arabia this summer.
The Poland international, 29, who played a key role in the club’s Scudetto success under Luciano Spalletti last season, was heavily linked with a move to Al-Ahli this summer, receiving a lucrative offer worth a net of around €14-15m per season. Zielinski, however, remained put and has entered the final year of his contract in the Campania capital.
“Talks are ongoing. As I have already said, my agent is taking care of all this. I want to achieve something more here in Europe, like playing the Champions League. And I decided that it was not yet time to run after money. I am not complaining. Money is not everything. I know that maybe in the future there will be such an advantageous offer and I will take it, but for now I have decided that it would be better to continue my career in Europe,” the Poland international told TVP Sport via TMW.
