Juventus Turns Its Attention to Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

In need of more playing time at the start of this season, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg would not be opposed to a departure this winter, and Juventus could be interested in making a move.

Playing in a system with five midfielders, Juventus would not be against strengthening their midfield this winter. Furthermore, the sports betting scandals affecting Italy are not helping the Bianconeri, as young midfielder Nicolo Fagioli has been suspended for seven months, joining Paul Pogba on the list of accused players. It is therefore necessary for the Italian club to reinforce their midfield to cover potential absences.

According to Fabrizio Romano, it could be Pierre-Emile Højbjerg who strengthens Juventus’ midfield if Tottenham and Postecoglou find a replacement for the Danish international.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, a workhorse

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg arrived at Bayern Munich in 2013 at the age of 18. After successful loan spells at Augsburg and Schalke 04, the defensive midfielder moved to Southampton for 15 million euros. He then exploded onto the English football scene, and the world discovered a young, tenacious and combative midfielder, capable of winning any ball. Covering a large area of the pitch, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg knows how to find a teammate in a tight space during the recovery phase, thanks to his excellent right foot, which has also produced some impressive long-range strikes.

He was transferred to Tottenham in 2020 for 16.6 million euros but has gradually lost playing time to the complementary duo of Bissouma and Sarr. Such a player would undoubtedly generate interest in the winter transfer window.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg’s profile matches the requirements of Juventus, who are in need of a hardworking midfielder. His ability to cover a large area of the pitch and his quality right foot make him an ideal candidate for the Italian giants. With the potential suspensions of Fagioli and Pogba, Højbjerg’s arrival would provide much-needed depth and cover for the midfield.

Juventus, known for their astute transfer dealings, will likely explore the possibility of signing Højbjerg. However, it remains to be seen whether Tottenham and Postecoglou will be willing to part ways with the Danish international. If a suitable replacement can be found, Juventus could make a move for Højbjerg and strengthen their midfield for the remainder of the season.

Overall, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg’s potential move to Juventus would be an intriguing development in the winter transfer window. His work rate, defensive abilities, and quality on the ball would undoubtedly make him a valuable addition to the Italian champions.
