Vinicius Jr no longer plans to retire at Real Madrid, despite saying he wanted to spend his entire life at the Madrid club just a few days ago. The Brazilian winger is now considering a return to his former club, Flamengo, before hanging up his boots.
In an interview with France Football, Vinicius not only sent a message to Kylian Mbappé, but also spoke about his future. With three goals and one assist in seven matches in all competitions this season, Vinicius Jr opened up about his desire to stay at Real Madrid for his entire career, but also expressed his wish to return to his former club, Flamengo.
“I love life here in general, and it’s going well for my family too. When my loved ones walk around, they are recognized and we are only wished happiness. Little by little, I discovered this new life, new emotions, and fervor… Madrid is unique. All over the world, people talk to me about this club. (…) I believe I could stay here my whole career, but my life club is Flamengo. I promised my father that I would return one day. I have to respect that promise,” said the Brazilian star.
Vinicius Jr’s announcement has sparked a lot of interest among football fans, especially those who follow Flamengo. The club has a rich history and is known for producing some of the best players in Brazil. Vinicius Jr himself was a product of Flamengo’s youth academy and made his professional debut for the club in 2017 at just 16 years old.
After impressing at Flamengo, Vinicius Jr moved to Real Madrid in 2018 for a reported fee of €45 million. He has since become a fan favorite at the Spanish club, but his desire to return to Flamengo shows that he has not forgotten his roots.
Vinicius Jr’s decision to return to Flamengo may not happen anytime soon, as he is still under contract with Real Madrid until 2025. However, his announcement has given fans something to look forward to and has shown that he is a player who values loyalty and family.
