Manu Kone, the 22-year-old midfielder, has become a high-profile target in the transfer market, with Liverpool and Bayern Munich competing for his services.
Liverpool has been closely monitoring Manu Kone, and according to Christian Falk, a journalist from Bild, the English club is “still watching” the player, maintaining their interest in him since the summer. However, Bayern Munich has joined the race for the midfielder and is interested in keeping him in the Bundesliga.
Kone emerged as a serious signing option for Liverpool at the start of last summer’s transfer window, but an untimely injury frustrated any move. Liverpool, instead, decided to strengthen their midfield with other acquisitions, leaving Kone in limbo.
Despite their signings, Liverpool has not given up on their interest in Kone and continues to monitor his situation closely in anticipation of the January transfer window. Additionally, Thiago Alcantara’s possible contract expiration next summer could open up space for a midfielder of Kone’s quality.
Kone is currently under contract with Borussia Monchengladbach until 2025, which means potential suitors could negotiate a lower price for the midfielder starting next year if the German club fails to extend his contract.
However, Liverpool is not the only club interested in Kone. Bayern Munich, the current Bundesliga champions, is also in search of a defensive midfielder. After failed attempts to sign Scott McTominay and Joao Palhinha in the summer, Bayern has shifted their focus to Kone, who is still recovering from a knee injury suffered during the U21 European Championship.
The future of Manu Kone is shaping up to be one of the hot topics in the upcoming January transfer window, and his signing could lead to an exciting transfer battle between two of Europe’s biggest clubs, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
