At only 38 years old, Burak Yilmaz is already taking over the reins at Besiktas, a club where he has played in the past.

At 38 years old, and already on the bench during the last victory against Istanbulspor, he will ensure the interim role for the Istanbul club, whose shirt he has worn twice (2006-2008 and 2019-2020). Burak Yilmaz will already face his first big test with Besiktas on October 21. Indeed, the Black and Whites will travel to the turf of Galatasaray, for one of the most anticipated clashes in Turkey.
Burak Yilmaz’s appointment as interim coach of Besiktas has surprised many people. However, it is not uncommon for former players to take on coaching roles at their former clubs. In fact, it can often be beneficial as they already have a deep understanding of the club’s culture and history.
Burak Yilmaz is no stranger to Besiktas, having played for the club on two separate occasions. During his time there, he scored 37 goals in 79 appearances. He was also part of the Besiktas team that won the Turkish Super Lig in the 2016-2017 season.
As a player, Burak Yilmaz was known for his goal-scoring ability and his physical presence on the pitch. It remains to be seen what kind of approach he will take as a coach. However, he has already shown that he is not afraid to take on responsibility and that he is willing to step up when needed.
The match against Galatasaray will be a tough test for Burak Yilmaz and Besiktas. Galatasaray is one of the most successful clubs in Turkish football history, having won the Super Lig 22 times. However, Besiktas has also had a lot of success, having won the league 16 times.
Regardless of the result, Burak Yilmaz’s appointment as interim coach of Besiktas is an exciting development for Turkish football. It will be interesting to see how he performs in this new role and whether he can lead Besiktas to success in the future.
