Paris Saint-Germain Considers Loaning Mbappé: A Surprising Solution to Increase Pressure

In a surprising turn of events, the Mbappé saga takes a new twist. After being excluded from the Asian tour and joining the group of “undesirables,” consisting of players the club management wants to see leave this summer, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is diligently exploring potential solutions. Among them is an unexpected alternative that could alleviate the need to sever the existing commitment that binds the club and the player until 2024, with the option for Mbappé to extend it until 2025, even though he has expressed his reluctance to do so.

Sky Sports reported on Monday that PSG is contemplating loaning the young Bondy forward as an alternative to a transfer, contract renewal, or forcing the player to fulfill his obligations while being sidelined for a year. This possibility of a loan could also be interpreted as a means of exerting pressure on Mbappé to rethink his stance on contract renewal. If he insists on honoring the existing agreement without extending it, PSG is proposing that he does so outside the club. However, for such a loan to materialize, Mbappé would have to concede and accept leaving under these conditions.

The absence of Mbappé from the Asian tour has generated a strong reaction from other clubs. Sky Sports suggests that this absence has effectively labeled him as “for sale.” Consequently, up to five clubs – details of which remain undisclosed – have reportedly contacted PSG, presenting various offers that, in some instances, include a combination of cash and players.

One among these clubs is Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, who failed in their bid to secure the services of Lionel Messi. Al Hilal is now redirecting the funds originally reserved for Messi towards their pursuit of Mbappé, his former teammate at PSG. According to Fabrizio Romano’s exclusive report, the most decorated team in Saudi Arabia has formalized an offer of €300 million, which has been presented to PSG. The Italian journalist also asserts that PSG remains convinced that Mbappé has already agreed to join Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, once his contract in the French capital expires. At present, there have been no discussions between Mbappé’s entourage and the Saudi Arabian club.

Should this move from Paris to Saudi Arabia materialize – a deal that is still in its infancy, with no prior contact between the player and Al Hilal – Mbappé’s transfer would surpass Neymar’s as the most expensive in football history. PSG had previously invested over €200 million to secure Neymar’s transfer from Barcelona.

This latest development adds yet another layer of intrigue to the Mbappé transfer saga. It remains to be seen whether PSG will ultimately resort to the surprising solution of a loan, or if other clubs’ offers will compel them to reconsider their stance. As the negotiations unfold, the football world eagerly anticipates the resolution of this high-stakes transfer, which has the potential to rewrite the record books once again.
